Roulette Rules More Info Roulette is a thrilling and social game, ripe with history and excitement. Invented in France in the 18th century, roulette quickly gained popularity and continues to be one of the most entertaining betting games around. We can’t wait for you to join us at Jumer’s Casino & Hotel for a rousing game of roulette. Roulette is easy to learn, but it moves quickly and there are lots of ways to bet, so take a few minutes to learn more about how to play. Here are some simple rules to help guide you: • Roulette is French for “little wheel,” and as you might expect, the wheel is the most important part of the game. The dealer spins the wheel in one direction and a ball moves in the opposite direction. Eventually, the ball lands on a number between 00 and 36. Participants (there are six seats at most roulette tables) bet by placing chips on these inside numbers or on one of the options in the outside area. Bets are placed on the board before and just after the wheel starts turning, until the dealer says, “no more bets.” • There are lots of different ways to bet when you’re playing roulette. If you want to bet on the inside numbers, you have several options. A straight bet is a bet on a single number, which gets paid out 35 to 1. This is the highest risk, but also the greatest reward if your number is called! In a split bet, the player places their chips on the line between two numbers. If either of these numbers is called, you are paid out 17 to 1. If you place your bet on the corner intersection between four numbers, you’ve made a corner bet. If any of the four numbers wins, the pay out is 8 to 1. A street bet involves placing a chip at the end of any row of three numbers. In this instance, you’ll be paid out 11 to 1 if one of the three numbers is called. A double street bet is also possible. Chips are placed at the intersection of two three-number rows and pay out at 5 to 1 if any of the six numbers is called. A five-number bet occurs when a chip is placed in the upper corner at the intersection of 1 and 0. This bet wins if the ball falls on 0, 00, 1, 2, or 3, and the payout is 6 to 1. • Betting on the outside during a game of roulette works a little differently. If you bet on red or black or odd or even, and the ball rests on a number that fits your selection, you are paid out 1 to 1. The same goes if you successfully bet on 1 to 18 or 19 to 36. Another outside option is dozens. You may place your chips on 1st dozen, 2nd dozen, or 3rd dozen, which refer to these respective groupings of number rows. The payout here is 2 to 1. Your final betting option is a column bet, which also pays out 2 to 1. The inside numbers on a roulette table are divided into three columns. So, if you place your chip below one of the three columns, and a number in that column is called, you win! Be sure to note that in the case of columns and dozens, 0 and 00 do not contribute to a win. • When the ball settles on a number, the dealer places a marker on the board indicating the winning number. Then the dealer pays off the bets of the winner(s) and the fun begins again! Roulette is a fast-moving game, but it’s easy to get the hang of and it’s tremendously enjoyable! Before you know it, you and your fellow players will be laughing and cheering for each other!
